About Us

Optimat is an independent company owned by four Directors. We have come a long way since our start-up in 1989 and have successfully completed several hundred strategic assignments for a broad range of clients. In the process we have built up a strong reputation for delivering results in a practical, flexible and professional manner.

Our people are based between our two offices in Glasgow and Birmingham. Our people are our assets and we plan to continue our growth plans through the addition of high quality and friendly people who can easily establish a good working rapport with our clients, and ultimately deliver high quality results. By carefully recruiting people with complementary industrial, technical and management expertise that builds on our pool of experience we have developed core competences in sectors such as:

  • Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing
  • Advanced Materials
  • Chemicals
  • Construction
  • Electronics and Photonics
  • Emerging Technologies (eg nanotechnologies)
  • Energy
  • Environmental
  • Food & Drink
  • Health Sciences
  • ICT & Software

The list is not exhaustive, especially when we include the expertise of our Associates and strategic partners.

Our preferred approach is to work in partnership with our clients in a mutually supportive project team, thus ensuring effective knowledge transfer and ownership of outputs. We appreciate that this is not always possible and always seek to clarify our clients requirements at the start of each assignment.

Project Quality is the responsibility of one of four Optimat Directors, with the project team selected on a best-fit basis from our pool of Consultants and support staff.

Optimat has also been accredited to the Investors in People standard since 1998 and our operating systems are based on the standards of the Institute of Management Consultants and ISO 9001.

We also encourage our consultancy team to seek membership of professional bodies like the Institute of Marketing, Institute of Management Consultants and Institute of Economic Development for example, and sponsor staff on MBA courses as part of their development and to give us continual access to modern management methodologies and thinking.
